About Us

 

To the members of the DC Texas Exes:

 

The Texas Exes was formed to unite, inform and involve alumni and friends for the purpose of promoting, protecting and preserving The University of Texas. The DC Texas Exes board shares this vision for the DC, Maryland, and Virginia metropolitan area. Existing since 1973, we are the 7th largest chapter and the 2nd largest out of state chapter, comprising members from 312 zip codes ranging from Bethesda, MD to Midland, VA. In terms of Associate and Lifetime members, it is the largest out of state chapter and we hope to continue to grow the participation of our local alumni.

 

The role of the DC Texas Exes chapter expands on this vision by bringing together our alumni at social and sporting events, providing scholarships to local area students to attend the University of Texas, and coordinating networking opportunities and other UT community events within DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Over the next year, we will continue to host our signature events, including:

• Inaugural DC Texas Exes Summer picnic
• Football Watching at Rhodeside Grill
• Texas Networking Thursdays
• Texas Independence Day Celebration
• Horns on the Hill

In the coming year, we will also focus on expanding our events to incorporate a Monthly Brunch Club, more family oriented events, and DC Area Centric Events including a Supreme Court tour, a White House tour, and museum nights. Furthermore, we would like to focus on creating additional events in the Northern Virginia and suburban Maryland areas.

 

We would also like to thank our main sponsor, Rhodeside Grill, for their continued support. Not only are we one of the few alumni groups in the DC area that has an exclusive and dedicated location to enjoy our sporting events, but also Rhodeside Grill’s annual generosity to our scholarship program has enabled additional rewards to numerous local students who attend the University of Texas.

The DC Texas Exes is an all volunteer organization and would not be successful without the individuals who help coordinate the events, the continued support of the community, and the participation of the local Longhorn alumni.
