The Gaithersburg Giants are looking for host families for 2-3 University of Texas players during the months of June and July. The Gaithersburg Giants baseball team plays in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League, a collegiate summer baseball league in the Washington D.C. and Baltimore Metropolitan areas, owned by Cal Ripken and subsidized by Major League Baseball. Regular season games will be played weekdays on the Monument Grounds in DC with one or two weekend matchups in nearby Maryland. We also participate in other weekend tournaments such as the Texas State Society Father’s Day picnic. Player cost will be $20 per person for the regular season, playoffs/tournaments are additional. With this document, settlers officially seceded from Mexico, creating the Republic of Texas. UT students and Texas Exes have come to recognize March 2 as a time to celebrate both the Lone Star State and the University of Texas. In 1900, the Ex-Students Association adopted a resolution which simply states: “Whenever two Texas Exes shall meet on March 2, they all shall sit and break bread and pay tribute to the institution that made their education possible.” |
